Plastpave Zambia is a circular economy innovation platform transforming hard-to-recycle plastics into durable construction materials, grassroots recycling systems, and community-driven income opportunities — built in Zambia, for Zambia and beyond borders.
Flagship Initiative: Waste to Infrastructure ProgramPlastic waste is one of Zambia’s fastest-growing environmental challenges. At Plastpave Zambia, we see opportunity where others see waste.
We collect hard-to-recycle plastics and convert them into durable, long-lasting infrastructure products that serve communities while reducing environmental pollution. Our approach combines innovation, practical engineering, grassroots empowerment, and appropriate energy systems.
The Waste to Infrastructure Initiative is Plastpave Zambia’s flagship circular economy program that transforms plastic pollution into durable infrastructure while empowering communities with practical recycling skills and enterprise opportunities.
Across participating communities, plastic waste such as bottles, snack wrappers, and water sachets is collected through organized campaigns involving schools, youth groups, and local residents. Instead of ending up in landfills or drainage systems, this waste becomes the raw material for new infrastructure.
Using Plastpave Zambia’s locally developed Chitukuko Kit recycling technology, collected plastics are processed and moulded into durable construction materials including pavers, interlocking blocks, slabs, boards, and other infrastructure products.
We operate through three integrated pillars:
We intercept plastic waste before it reaches landfills or waterways and convert it into high-value construction materials.
We design and supply community-scale recycling kits and mini processing systems that allow cooperatives and youth groups to start small-scale recycling ventures.
Through structured training, we equip individuals and communities with technical skills, business planning tools, and financial projections needed to operate sustainable recycling enterprises.
